My name is Elle-Jay, go by she/her pronouns, and currently located in the unceded land of the Coast Salish Territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, colonially known as Vancouver, BC, Canada.
I am a Certified Somatic Sex Educator, Sexological Bodyworker, Trauma-Informed Embodiment Coach as well as a Reiki Practitioner, all with the intention of helping others connect/reconnect back with their bodies from trauma, challenges/blockages, and everything in-between.
Growing up, I experienced an absence of touch. As there was also a cultural aspect at play, hugs and kisses were pretty much non-existent. As I started pursuing relationships which would eventually become intimate – I realized I wasn’t at all resourced or had very little knowledge around sexual awareness, consent and lacked communication skills when it came to what I desired or what pleasure meant to me.
So I took it upon myself to do a deep dive into discovering how my personal experiences shaped my relationships, intimacy patterns and behaviours. But also allowing space to understand and process personal and generational trauma, racial oppression, choice and voice, being a woman in society, practicing saying “no”, and embodying the “no” without the feeling the stigma of shame or guilt.
Afterall, who is this all for?
I explored aspects of my sexuality, dabbled in different relationship dynamics, radical self expression, kink, and gave myself permission to question everything I thought I knew about intimacy, sex and relationships. If it wasn’t for the support of my program, mentors, friends, colleagues, and partners to pursue this path I wouldn’t be where I am today.
And I can honestly say having some company to walk down this road with has made all the difference.
We have taken great strides to address our physical health, spiritual health, and mental health – but sexual health is an area that is still very much misunderstood.
So I am excited to be a part of this movement to continually support, educate, and provide a safe space for current and future generations when it comes to pleasure, intimacy, consent, boundaries, empowering choice and voice and embracing who we all are as sensual beings. This truly lights me up and makes my heart feel so full to be able to help others in this.
